Guy: Yo girl, I gotta song for you.
Girl: Okay. What you got?
Guy, beginning to beat-box: You a five-star bitch, I got a five-star dick...
Girl: Hahahaha.
Guy: Eight inches long and just as thick...
Girl: What!? Hold up!

My friend Michelle lost the baby. She was pretty far along, well past showing.
I was to be the Godfather.
She's plucky and isn't going to give up trying. Fingers crossed!
Animated blonde salesgirl: If you get the apple pomegranate body butter...
Weary brunette: I only see the display.
Animated blonde salesgirl: We have more in the back. Okay, well, if you get two or more products from the bath line, like this and our shower gel, you get a free bathtub!
Weary brunette: Huh?
(animated blonde salesgirl points to a little plastic bathtub)
Weary brunette: That's... tiny. Like, I love the scent but I'm afraid I don't have any kittens or fetuses to bathe in that tiny tiny tub.

He was brought into the animal hospital where my mom works and his owners claimed he was "mean" and wanted him put to sleep. My mom thought that was extremely unnecessary and decided to take him home and foster him. He's currently hanging out in my garage (occasionally sneaking into the house) because we already have a male cat, Scooter, who absolutely hates Oliver and is the reason why we can't adopt him. Oliver gets along GREAT with my dog and my other cat.
As for him being "mean," well, he isn't. He occasionally gets very excited and bites (which doesn't hurt) and then sometimes hisses. Anyone who has owned a cat knows this is just how some cats are. (I was just at a friends house last night and her cat did the same thing!) He isn't out to hurt anyone. He's just a playful cat who gets a little worked up sometimes. He just needs understanding owners who are willing to work with him...
If you are interested in adopting him, or know someone who might be, please message me or email me at gona87@aol.com! He is neutered, has all his shots, is FIV/FeLV negative and is in perfect health. He is currently indoor/outdoor but it shouldn't be difficult making him a completely indoor cat. He is currently in the Huntington area of Long Island but will travel for the right person/people :)

I don’t know about you, but I remember certain books because of where I read them or the circumstances surrounding the reading more than what the story was actually about. The other day I was poking in a bin at a 2nd hand store and came across a very good novel I’d read long ago. What immediately came to mind when I saw the book was reading it at Vienna’s only PIZZA HUT one winter day a decade ago. The Austrian version of PH was shitty (that place closed soon after and the whole franchise slunk out of the country years ago, its mozzarella tail drooping between its legs). But reading the book that cold wet day, staying longer at the table after finishing my dismal meal only because the story had me wrapped around its finger, is what remains. I’m sure the author wouldn’t like hearing that his good work is forever linked in my head with a dreary chain restaurant serving crap food, but what can I say? A favorite novel, LIGHT YEARS by James Salter, was begun one August afternoon on a balcony overlooking a romantic Swiss valley just as a thunderstorm was rumbling in over the Alps. From the first pages I knew the book was going to be very special. But I couldn’t stop looking around at that spectacular landscape, the approaching plum-purple clouds, the trees in full bloom whipped here and there by the growing wind. The book, the place, the heady mountain air, the coming storm: One of those rare sacred moments where you’re so glad to be alive that every inch of your being says thank you.
In other news, I have been reading a really good Management/HR-related book. It's taking me much longer than usual because I find myself pausing a lot to draw connections to my own experiences. And I had thought I'd raze through it and one other book over the extended Christmas weekend! Heh.
Speaking of drawing connections, I think one of the coolest things about being in the HR profession is how it lends a whole other layer of meaning to the entire working experience. Even the process of applying for jobs and attending interviews can be inspiring in that you are able to compare various techniques and styles, and learn from them, maybe incorporate them when given the opportunity. I can't wait for my first exit interview! *Glee*

I painted the Rain today,
and that to have accompaniment of my friends,
made the painting session yet another enjoyable one.
Thanks Sebby for the watercolour moleskine and it was a good surprise.

Ghetto-fabulous girl #2: Mmm-hmm! And they dress so good--all professional.

I have found out that a certain righteous Ms Janet Wee is trying to protect the reputation our leaders and has written to the Singapore Police to complain about The Online Citizen for being seditious. I am worried that her is not getting the point across clearly enough. Will you please help her out so that she can lodge a better complaint?
Mr. Lee See Nao
Dear See Nao,
Ah yes, finally someone is complaining about those terrible people who criticize a government that can do no wrong. I will try to help.
Yours,
Molly
